                                                            familiar and common yet -
                                                            each moment is fresh


A Tanka -

                                   under the night sky 
                                   snow-white buds crackle, glimmer
                                   fair flowers bloom fresh
                                   sleeping earth, mystical dark
                                   the moonfleet glides bright and calm

                                                                                  

Tanka is a Japanese poem form similar to Haiku with two additional lines of 7-7 syllables. So the format is 5-7-5-7-7 with 5 lines and 31 syllables in total.

Tanka is also referred as 'Waka' meaning 'poetry' in Japanese.

  10. I love mundane...and so In love Fresh :) the Tanka is awesome bestie! I any day prefer a tanka over Haiku for it gives more autonomy to a poet :) awesome!!

  15. True Kokila the dullness and familiarity of daily routine has a comfort of its own. We yearn for it after being away for a few days.
    Snow white buds crackling under the night sky...if I close my eyes and imagine this the picture that you've used comes right in front of the eyes. Both haiku and tanka are fab.
    ..And thank you for describing what a tanka is. :-)
